The Loving Leader Notes: Genuinely love those under your care.  It’s easy to “do ministry” without loving people.

Seek perfect unity (John 17:20-23)

  • “just as”
  • “perfectly one”
  • “so that”
  • Philippians 1:27-30

Know your people

  • See them as a family (children) rather than a weekly commitment
  • Be a parent, not a babysitter
  • Paul’s example- 1 Thess 2:5-12

Display practical and tangible love

  • What it means to “show hospitality”
  • The example of the early church (Acts 2, 4)

The fight to sacrifice privacy

  • Opening your home, finances, time

Let love motivate your actions (1 Cor 13)

  • People can tell if you genuinely love them

Suggested Actions

  • Choose key leaders who will in turn care for others in the group
  • Make sure everyone is cared for and is caring for others.
  • Actually assign responsibilities to people.

Success:  Everyone was lovingly contacted by at least two members and reached out to love on at least two members this week.
