The importance of goals

Philippians 3:12-14   Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

1 Corinthians 9:23   I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings. Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize.25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

1 Timothy 3:5   If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God’s church?

No belief that you can do it

Philippians 4:13   I can do all this through him who gives me strength.

 

 

 

Walls to reaching your goals?

Desire to accomplish but little desire to learn

Galatians 1:10   Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.

1 Thessalonians 2:4   On the contrary, we speak as those approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel. We are not trying to please people but God, who tests our hearts.

Fear of failure

Corinthians 12:7   Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good.

Uncertain of end goal

Proverbs 16:3   Commit to the Lord whatever you do,

and he will establish your plans.

Proverbs 16:9.  In their hearts humans plan their course,

but the Lord establishes their steps.

Feeling like you are in over your head

Ephesians 3:20   Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
